Captain Michael Behan is a longtime resident of Sylvania Township and is dedicated to serving this community.  He was appointed to the Sylvania Fire-EMS Department on May 17, 2000 where he served at each Firehouse on A-Shift as well as C-Shift as a Firefighter/Paramedic. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on January 28, 2018, and promoted to the rank of Captain on May 6, 2024.   

Captain Behan completed the Ohio Fire Executive from the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association in 2021. He is an Ohio Certified EMT-Paramedic, Ohio Fire Instructor, Ohio Fire Inspector, Fire Department Safety Officer, certified in NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 courses, is a member on many Committees, and has many years of command and supervisory experience in the STFD.

Captain Behan has a passion for training and safety, and he will now be responsible for the training and safety programs for the men and women of the Sylvania Fire-EMS Department.  He is excited and proud to serve the department and the community.
